I'm Cheryl Brickey, the owner and designer behind Meadow Mist Designs. I was born and raised in New Jersey but now call South Carolina home along with my husband, two school aged children, and four cats.
By day I work as a chemical engineer and patent agent writing applications around technical textiles used for various industries such as house wrap, tires, printing presses, weaving machines, and military fabrics. I like that even if I am not sewing quilts during the day, I am still working with and learning about textiles.
I began my quilting journey over a decade ago when my younger child was moving from a crib to a regular bed. I have always loved quilts, and though I do not have any quilters in the family, I decided I was going to attempt to make my daughter a quilt for her new bed. Armed with a simple cutting mat, rotary cutting, ruler, and my mother's old 1980's slant shank Singer, I made my first quilt.
I found out quickly that one of my favorite parts of quilting was designing and writing the quilt pattern, combining my engineering/technical writing skills with my design skills. This love of quilt design and math led me to create Meadow Mist Designs.
Over the past decade my work has been published in numerous publications and shown in international quilt shows. Along with over 100 stand alone patterns written, I have two books published by C&T / Stash Publications, Modern Plus Sign Quilts (2018) and Just One Charm Pack Quilts (2021), with my newest (third) book having a release date of May 2023.
